This is not, "oh my god I am shaken to the core with its beauty", kind of park. Its a little understated, but if you are looking for a good place to go on day hikes, or to get away for a couple of hours then Palo Duro State Park is for you. The hikes are relatively easy, and the park in itself is easy to navigate.
Here is everything I packed in my backpack for my day trips to Palo Duro:
Two peanut butter sandwiches
Water Bottles - One Hydro Flask, a Camelback, and two plastic water bottles.
Chacos- Or any sandals in general
Portable Phone Charger
I highly recommend planning out the travel time, and when yall will be hiking before yall go. If you want to get to the top and look down into the canyon, then hiking during the morning is better than the afternoon, since the sun will still below. If you start hiking at around 1 pm, the sun will hit you directly.
Also, when in doubt pack more water.
