Attending My First Non-Indian Wedding

In my 23 years of living, I have attended countless Indian weddings, about three every year yet, never have been to an American wedding. I always thought it was normal to attend so many weddings but, I quickly realized in college that it wasn't. I am at that age where either my friends are single, dating, or about to get married. I enjoy weddings and never had to put so much thought into attending one until this past weekend. I had so many questions that I googled and texted my friends about such as...

What do I wear? Is it going to be cold or not? Do I wear a coat or not? What kind of shoes should I wear? Should I pack my flats? Do I need to stay for the whole wedding or not? How long is the cocktail hour? Are live bands normal? Thankfully, the couple's families were incredibly friendly and informative.

It was kind of funny now that I look back at how much research I did for this one wedding but I am glad I did. I knew that unlike Indian weddings where you can show up a 1 hour late and still be on time, American weddings start exactly at the time they stated on the card. Overall, it was really fun and I am so glad that I got to see one of my dear friends get married to the love of her life.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Brown!
